A TIME TO CELEBRATE AND SERVE
Every two years, WMA holds a National Convention and Professional Development Conference that invites members and Marines worldwide to gather for a week of camaraderie and commemoration. The convention includes educational seminars and business meetings to ensure the working order of the WMA organization. This bi-annual event brings together the community of women Marines who have a commitment to serve that goes above beyond the honor of the “blood stripe,” and steeps into families, friends, and communities. It’s a time to celebrate women Marines.
WMA Conventions deliver a wealth of opportunity for celebrating achievements through award ceremonies that recognize WMA members, chapters, Loyal Escorts and the WMA Auxiliary. Included are influential keynote speakers who present professional issues and a variety of leadership training. Active-duty Marines/FMF qualified may attend via TAD orders for seminars related to their Military career as well as mentoring from fellow Marines (per MARADMIN published in HQMC).
The convention has come a long way since the inspirational idea of Jean Durfee who help develop WMA into a world class organization and bringing the concept of community to its first convention in Denver, CO in 1960.
