The Molly Marine is someone who puts others before themselves, always giving 100% and nothing less. Never giving up even when things feel impossible and keeping others motivated to excel to the best of their abilities.

I was surprised when I was voted Molly Marine. Coming to recruit training I didn’t do anything different than what I would do as captain on my sports teams in high school and in college. Teamwork is a huge aspect of recruit training, without it your fellow sister recruits and yourself would be unable to complete recruit training. Putting others above yourself has always been something I’ve grown up doing. Being a twin you’re always a “team”, never an individual. You won’t make it on your own. My drill instructors have definitely shown us just that. They have shown us that giving the bare minimum is never an option and to never give up no matter how much it hurts. I have a lot of respect for our drill instructors and will bring the lessons they have taught us for the rest of my life.

The Molly Marine can be anyone. You just have to be committed, do what’s right even when no one is looking, never aim for the bare minimum, respect others and never quit.
