Mary Palazzolo is a life member of WMA joining first with the Motor City Chapter located in Michigan in the late 70’s. Her career started with 8A 1974 at Parris Island, SC WRTC. After active duty she joined the Marine Corps Reserves serving at Broadhead Naval Amory in Detroit and in Lansing. In 1990 she was deployed to Saudi Arabia.
Mary received her bachelors degree from Ferris in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement . During this time she worked at Ferris State as Campus Police until 1985 which then had her moving to Virginia. While residing in Virginia she first worked as an officer at the Supreme Court then on to Prince William County. In 2011 Mary retired US Capital Police. She served 21 years,
Mary saw her duty take her to the Senate Chamber in then uniform division and then latter in the plain clothes unit.
Mary, who continued to be active in WMA, moved to Wilmington, NC after her retirement where she helped to establish a new chapter NC-5 Port City Marines. The Women Marines Association has been an integral part of her life for over 40 years. The friends made are lifelong.
When coming back to Michigan to visit her family she does take time to visit old chapter members from MI-2. All four were part of joining WMA when it was chartered.
Mary is active in her church and continues to volunteer in her area as well as being an officer in NC5. Her loves are her two dogs that are so spoiled and have her trained well. From going to the dog park to walks on the beach.
