John F. Kennedy once said: “Ask not what your country can do for MM P 4016 Rodriguezyou, but what you can do for your country”. Choosing to be a Marine is my way of giving back to my family, my friends, and more importantly my country. Therefore, it is an honor to receive the title Molly Marine knowing that my peers look up to me and see me as an example.

Joining the Marine Corps has brought out the best in me. It has helped me build confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills. Being a leader helped me step out of my comfort zone, set the example for others, and push myself when I want to give up.

This opportunity of becoming a Marine will show everyone that I have what it takes to be successful. I am determined, dedicated and passionate about becoming a Marine. I know that by being a part of the Marine Corps I will never work a day in my life because it is what I love to do. I am ready to lay down my life for my country and those I love.

Some of the most important things that I have learned throughout recruit training are as follows: the corps values of honor, courage, and commitment; integrity; having faith; and learning to never give up on yourself or others. It has taken a lot of time and hard work to get where I am today. It has not been easy, but it has definitely been worth it. Recruit training has been the most exciting, physically demanding, and eye opening experience that I have encountered in my life.

Being chosen as Molly Marine has made me realize that I have impacted the lives of my soon to be fellow Marines. Whether it was displaying passion, pushing them to never give up on themselves, leading by example, or just listen to them. Being selfless and having self-control, as well as having the heart to be a Marine has led me to earn the respect of my peers. From the beginning, my peers noticed that I took initiative, stayed calm under pressure, stayed positive during challenging times, and respected my leaders and peers alike.

In being chosen as Molly Marine, I am proud to say that I can be a living example of God, Corps, and country.
