Remembering a Warrior

By Deb Drummond

It’s been more than a month since I ran the 2015 Marine Corps Marathon. The more time that passes, the more surreal it seems…especially given the extraordinary event that it was. As I wrote in my 1 November post, I was blessed to have run 23+ miles of the race with Meagan Mead who, as it turns out is a Marine spouse. While we were running, I talked about the Women Marines Association, our fallen female Marine warriors, and in particular a Marine marathoner named Maj Megan McClung.

Although the MI-2 Motor City Chapter of Women Marines Association has raised enough money through their golf outings to fund a perpetual scholarship in memory of all our fallen female Marine warriors, the  Megan McClung Scholarship is still in need of funding to become perpetual.

Meagan Mead is a Nomades Collection representative and she has graciously agreed to contribute her commission to the Megan McClung Scholarship. The Nomades Collection contains unique, military-themed charms and from now through 18 December 2015, any purchase you make will benefit the WMA Megan McClung Memorial Scholarship.

If you’d like to donate directly to the Megan McClung Memorial Scholarship, WMA is a 503(c)(3) and your donation is tax deductible. Please include instructions directing your donation to the “Megan McClung Memorial Scholarship” and mail to:
