Sara began her career as an enlisted Marine in 1977 and was commissioned in 1983. Sara served two tours in Iraq & one in Afghanistan as the Officer in Charge of the Patient Administrative Tracking team for MARCENT. They operate in theatre and their mission is to keep the units and families informed of the status of wounded, ill, or deceased Marines. Sara Phoenix is currently as a Colonel in the Marine Corps Reserve.

    I was honored to meet Colonel Phoenix a couple years back at the Molly Marine Run at Parris Island. It was an unique experience to speak with a female Marine who had shared my initial experience and then stayed in to see all the changes. What an exceptional Marine, what an exceptional life! Just one more reason to be proud of today’s Marines.
