Women Marines Association Makes Donation
Members from several chapters of the Women Marines Association met on 13 April 2019, in Jacksonville, NC., to make a check presentation for the VMAQ Foundation. This donation of $2,500 will support the building of this monument and give recognition to our Marines who served in Prowler units. This monument will be erected at the National Naval Aviation Museum, Pensacola, FL.
The Women Marines Association is proud to support the VMAQ Monument Foundation. The donation was presented by Rhonda Amtower, WMA National President, to Foundation Representative, Melissa (Pratt) Kelley, LtCol Retired. Melissa is a WMA life member and one of the first women to serve as an aviator in the Marine Corps. She served in the Marine Prowler community for 20 years flying both at home and in combat. Women have served in Marine Prowler squadrons for decades, and since 1997 have served in the cockpit flying EA-6Bs. The VMAQ Monument Foundation is a volunteer organization of veterans and supporters who are dedicated to preserving and honoring the history, legacy, and memory of those who served in the Marine VMAQ squadrons for over 40 years. If you are interested in making a personal donation to the project, checks made out to the VMAQ Monument Foundation can be mailed to Harry H.
