WMA Presidential Initiative 2021

VA-3 Hampton Roads chapter

In the last quarter of 2021, WMA National President, Rhonda Amtower invited all members to get involved in their communities. Amtower encouraged WMA Chapters and WMA Members at large to help fill food pantries the support our communities in which they live. Many answered the call.

VA-3 Hampton Roads chapter led the pack. They collected and distributed food with the local food bank.

The next to meet the challenge was MI-4 Mid Michigan. The group gathered donations and then met up in Frankenmuth, Mi. From there they were donated to Veteran 1 Food Pantry at Browne Airport. They also supported a local veteran whose family was in need of food with over $200 worth of groceries. Great job MI4.

The Motor City MI2 chapter of WMA filled out Michigan with their donations to the Chesterfield Michigan Veteran Home. (CTMVH). After learning of their needs and wishlist WMA MI2 members were able to provide for them, various games, coffee pot, table games, Christmas items and more. MI2 collected at their food drive snacks galore as well as personal need items from watches to clocks to socks and more. They partnered with the community, Lanzen Inc and Westview Orchards. Lanzen provided a box of assorted snacks as well as 32 wristwatches. Westview donated 6 doz fresh apple cider donuts and 4 gallons of cider for the residents. The community dropped off many items. Our Loyal Escorts, were right there to help packing and unloading the van that was graciously lent to them by Pamela’s Catering.

AZ-1 joined in the fun with a small drive that benefitted the MANA House. Run by Catholic Charities it serves Marines, Army, Navy and Airforce.
